Frederick Duncan Resigns As Central Regional MUSIGA Vice Chairman


Frederick Duncan popularly known in the music industry as “Samaro Africa” has resigned from his position as Vice Chairman for the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) in the Central Region.


Resignation of the talented Highlife artiste and Leader of Cape Coast-based Samaro Band, was established following an official resignation letter sited by *Sompa News Eric Annan*, submitted to the Central Regional MUSIGA head office in Cape Coast to relay his intention to redraw as an Executive Member of the union.


According to the letter sited upon, that which necessitated the musician’s decision to resign, follows his desire to pursue higher educational qualification.


He disclosed that after careful consideration and broader consultant, his focus on education presently, won’t allow him to duly discharge his duties as expected. Hence his resignation.


MUSIGA as widely referred, is an umbrella group that unites all musicians in Ghana irrespective of their music genre.


Established on December 9, 1975, MUSIGA was founded with the primary objective of uniting musicians under a single organization to safeguard their rights, advance their interests, and advance the Ghanaian music business.


The union’s core duties include representing and running the organization at the administrative and financial level, policy making, wages and remuneration, social protection, support for musical activities, job opportunities, union rights and freedom, education, intellectual property rights, working conditions and gender equality.
