KEEA MP hands over water facility to saman abotar park communities

Samuel Atta Mills

The Member of Parliament for the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Constituency in the Central Region, Hon. Samuel Atta-Mills, in cooperation with the REHOBOTH Foundation, has provided portable, safe, and good drinking water to the residents of Saman Abotar Park. The project, an initiative of the Member of Parliament, was to address the long-standing challenges the communities faced in accessing clean drinking water.

Saman Abotar Park, a suburb of Abrem Agona, has been battling with access to potable drinking water, just like many other communities and villages within the constituency. The Office of KEEA MP calls out government to put in strenuous efforts to improve rural water supply to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Six by 2030. Global goal six ensures the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, but current water coverage, according to statistics from the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), is around 65.7% in Ghana.

Addressing the media during the commissioning, the MP’s special aide, Hon. Phillip Bosumtwi Amoah, extended Hon. Samuel Atta Mills’ appreciation to the REHOBOTH Foundation for their generosity and assured that the mechanized borehole will relieve residents who trek several miles in search of good drinking water. On maintenance culture, the residents were advised to pay attention to the facility by putting it to good use. He also appealed to the foundation to collaborate with the Office of the MP to undertake other projects in the constituency, which includes mechanized boreholes for the good people of Sefwi Awona, the Fulani community at Komenda, New Ebu, Abbina, and other communities.

On the part of the residents of Saman Abotar Park, they commended the MP for his efforts towards solving the water challenges without central government intervention, which was an indication that they made a good choice. “We thank you for addressing our biggest concern.”

May God bless us all and make KEEA Constituency great and strong.
