Sarkodie Jabs As He Finally Reacts To The Current Dumsor Situation In Ghana

Sarkodie

Rapper Sarkodie has spoken out about the present dumsor crisis in Ghana, answering to growing criticism from internet users who were reminded of him from his strong stance during the NDC regime.

As seen by a viral video showing a power outage at the Tema General Hospital, award-winning artist Sarkodie, real name Michael Owusu Addo, wasn’t holding back in his criticism of the recent power outages. He focused especially on the negative effects these outages have had on healthcare.

Sarkodie responded by denouncing the circumstances as an obvious example of persons in positions of power having “misplaced priorities.” On March 27, 2024, Sarkodie posted the upsetting video to his Instagram account. In it, he underlined the serious repercussions of disregarding basic necessities, which particularly harm helpless newborns in intensive care.

In the aforementioned video, moms and medical professionals were shown battling to provide for their infants in the dark, turning to makeshift fans and phone lights to keep cool in the wards.

The facility’s unstable power supply was tragically linked to a newborn’s death, underscoring the critical necessity for dependable electricity to maintain life-saving equipment in neonatal units.

The energy minister and the power distributor have both resigned in response to calls for a timetable for power outages from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), but Sarkodie’s strong remarks further exacerbate the mounting criticism of the government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for its handling of the ongoing dumsor crisis.

Discontent brews online despite the ministry’s best efforts to elucidate remarks made by Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh, highlighting the urgent need for practical solutions to Ghana’s electricity problems.
