The Edina Bakatue Festival 2024 was successfully launched.

Today, March 4, 2024, the official Edina Bakatue festival for Elmina locals was successfully launched within the Elmina Castle by the Edina traditional council and the Festival Planning Committee.

Equally significant figures graced the launching, which was led by Mr. Samuel Kofi Dentu, deputy chief executive officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority. Among them are the heads of Lemon Beach Resort, Kakum Rural Bank, Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem (K.E.E.A.) Municipal Chief Executive, Attorney Solomon Ebo Appiah, and a few religious figures.

Speaking to the gathering, Mr. Samuel Kofi Dentu took advantage of the occasion to pledge that his office and full support would be provided to train and equip thirty people in Elmina with hand skills that will come in handy during the holiday season. All of the profits would go directly into their pockets, and he would cover all of the costs.

Lawyer Ebo Appiah, the MCE for K.E.E.A., alerted the paramount chief in office to some unhealthy events occurring in the municipality that could have an impact on the municipality’s development and are motivated by political motives. Additionally, he mentioned that the Elmina theater will soon be finished and open for business, benefiting from the recently established “sister cities” in the US. They will also provide their support for additional developmental forecasts. Finally, he made a plea to the Chief and his allying Chiefs to revive “The Education Trust Fund,” which was once used to provide financial assistance to students who performed exceptionally well on their final examinations and applied for scholarships.

Nana Kodwo Condua VI, the paramount chief of the Edina Traditional Area, voiced his anger with certain media figures who had negative remarks about the celebration. In order to expand and improve the festival, he pleaded with them to oppose such behavior and embrace their suggestions. In addition, he counseled parents to exercise control over delivery and assume accountability for providing their kids with quality care. He concluded by praising a few grouped members for their unwavering commitment to ensuring that the festival is properly planned and executed.
